NARS Matte Multiple: is it worth it?

In case you haven't already heard about these new blushes from NARS, this is the NARS Matte Multiple in Laos.  It is $46 Cdn from Sephora.  Which - I agree - is ridiculous really.  Especially considering it is 0.26 oz vs the original formula that is 0.5 oz for the same price.  Shame on them.  BUT - I do like it.  I just won't be buying any more.

I had seen all the reviews pre-launch and looked at the swatches online and thought "meh".  I have been on a real blush kick this Spring and already have more than I need on rotation.  I have been enjoying the Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Sticks which are a real deal at $10 or less from Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, etc.  The Coral Sheen is my favourite and they've launched some new shades with their Spring Nudes line as well.

Then I went to the Sephora VIB event a few weeks ago and tried this NARS Matte Multiple on myself and of course fell in love.  I didn't care as much for some of the other shades, but this one really suited me.

I think it applies very easily.  Some of the cheaper cream blushes out there are more "moist" and sit on your skin - and vanish very quickly.  This one blends in nicely - it isn't difficult to work into your skin at all.  It feels more concentrated and more pigmented.  Of course, it does not have the longevity of a more pigmented powder like a Tarte Amazonian clay blush or a cream/ powder hybrid like the Clinique cheek pops.  But it does have pretty decent staying power and I don't need a touch-up until late in the day if I'm wearing a good primer, base and powder.

I just really like this colour, and the finish and the matte aspect of it.  And - how easy it is to apply and blend out.  It compliments my NARS Laguna bronzer really well.

That being said, I don't know that I could really justify the difference in price over a $10 Maybelline blush?  It isn't $30 better that's for sure.  But I won't be buying the full range.  I just like this particular one.  And for the same price as the Hourglass blush - I will take the Hourglass any day!  That is a game changer for sure.

Here's a swatch on my arm so you can see the full colour of the NARS Matte Multiple in Laos.

And here you can see it blended out on my face.  I'm wearing Bobbi Brown long lasting foundation, NARS light reflecting finishing powder, and Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Dusty Pink.  I have nothing on eyes, brows, or lashes here.

I think you can really see the effect of the NARS finishing powder in this picture, how it reflects the light so nicely.  It is a great powder - and one I will re-purchase for sure.

  1. Thanks for such a great review! I was eyeing Laos, but went home with Siam instead. Wore it earlier this week for the first time and fell in love! Laos looks very pretty on you :)

    1. Thanks Jen! I love your blog by the way - you do your makeup beautifully!

  2. you look beautiful but I think you have talked me into a Clinique cheek pop in peach instead

  3. Gosh your skin is flawless! Beautiful. What a great review. Packed full of really helpful information. Yes the NARS sounds pricey but you're very good for not getting sucked in at that price point, even though you like the product so much.

  4. Looks really good on you :D - I have one of the bronzer multiples and it's pretty nice but there are compatible products for less

    1. Thank you Gwen! I would agree. I won't be buying more. I was more curious than anything! And you know what happens when you walk into Sephora and see shiny new things .....
